Mottaret Ski Resort
Despite perceptions to the contrary, Mottaret is a separate resort from Meribel, the nearby sister resort. Mottaret is three miles further up the valley than Meribel, and a benefit of the slightly higher elevation is that a larger percentage of the accommodation there is ski-in/ski-out.
Mottaret traditionally attracts more families and groups that are not so concerned with the social side that Meribel is famous for. However, a free bus between the two resorts means that it’s straightforward to enjoy the attractions of Meribel from Mottaret.
In Meribel-Mottaret, approximately 150km of pistes and 45 lifts are designed to carry skiers across the whole resort. Beginners have multiple green and blue runs to choose from. Another option is the nursery slopes in Meribel, which are easily accessible.
